Brief introduction of ultrafiltration membrane
Ultrafiltration membrane of a wide range of industrial applications has become one of the new chemical unit operations. The structure of ultrafiltration membrane has symmetric and asymmetric two types. The asymmetric ultrafiltration membrane has compact surface layer and the finger shaped bottom layer. The skin thickness is about 0.1 micron; the bottom thickness is about 200-250 micron. Ultrafiltration membrane used in industrial usually is asymmetric membrane. The materials of ultrafiltration membrane are followed: cellulose and its derivatives, makrolon, polyvinyl chloride, polysulfone, polyamide, polysulfone and so on.
The screening process of ultrafiltration membrane is regard pressure difference of membranes' sides as the driving force and regard ultrafiltration membrane as the filter media. Under a certain pressure, when the liquid flow the surface of membrane, the micropore covered on ultrafiltration membrane only allows water and small molecules permeate through, while the materials which volume are bigger than the diameter of micropore will stopped. Every meter long ultrafiltration membrane has 6 billion micropores which diameter is 0.01micron, while the volume of smallest germs is larger than 0.02micron, so 90% materials will be stopped and the purification is achieved.
The filtration effect of ultrafiltration membrane is larger and larger with the development of technology. The ultrafiltration membrane widely used, it is especially suitable to use in the solute's separation of dealing with solution, it also used in the separation of colloidal suspension.
